What is Coaching?

Most of us have heard of the term coaching in the context of instructional classes for competitive exams or perhaps experienced it in a team building workshop within a corporate setting. Personal or depth coaching is neither teaching nor just goal setting.

Coaching is an engaging and thought provoking partnership, that helps unlock your inherent wisdom and creativity, in order to build a life more in sync with your true values and purpose.

Often we are living or caught in a life we are supposed to be having or should be content with. But it feels stressful, busy, maybe even engaging yet something is missing. This is an invitation to check in – is there an important need or value that is not being met. Are there choices or decisions that you are deferring because you are not clear about what you want? Within a coaching relationship, the coach works to understand your dreams, hopes, obstacles, challenges and works with you to find your authentic answers to what makes your heart sing. How? By getting you in touch with your needs, values, beliefs, strengths and thought patterns that can either keep you stuck or move you closer to the experiences you want to have.

Coaching is a collaborative enquiry and exploration to find direction, purpose, more alignment. A process of growth and learning about what might help you develop or what will keep you stuck, coaching brings clarity, a greater sense of ownership of your abilities, the course of your thoughts and life, bringing a sense of empowerment.

Sometimes even with a lot of awareness we find ourselves stuck – in a loop of self doubt, procrastination, rumination and inaction. But with a coach by your side to support you, to put you in the right headspace and heart space, who reminds you of what you have already done and the strengths you possess, each hurdle can become an opportunity for a leap, turning the ‘if’ I can do it to a ‘how’ will I do it.
